1What is the KNUST AI Initiative?▾
The KNUST AI Initiative is a university-wide effort to design, coordinate, and deliver high-quality Artificial Intelligence education and capacity-building programmes across all colleges. It focuses on AI literacy, applied learning, ethical practice, and long-term sustainability.
2Who can participate in the AI courses?▾
AI courses are open to:
- Undergraduate and postgraduate students across all colleges
- Academic and administrative staff
- Professionals and members of the wider community, depending on course type and delivery mode
Some courses may have prerequisites, which will be clearly stated.
3When will the AI courses begin?▾
The first set of approved AI courses will begin in January 2025, with additional self-paced courses rolled out progressively thereafter.
4Are the AI courses compulsory?▾
Some foundational AI literacy courses may be required for specific programmes, while others are elective or self-paced. The exact structure depends on programme requirements and Academic Board approval.
5How are the AI courses delivered?▾
Courses are delivered using a combination of:
- Self-paced online modules
- Blended learning approaches
- Instructor-supported sessions where applicable
This flexible model allows learners to progress at their own pace while maintaining academic quality.
6Will I receive a certificate after completing an AI course?▾
Yes. Learners who successfully complete AI courses will receive:
- Digital certificates or micro-credentials
- Stackable badges that can contribute toward broader AI competency recognition

7How does the initiative ensure quality and academic standards?▾
All AI courses are designed using:
- Outcome-based curriculum principles
- Constructive alignment of learning outcomes, activities, and assessments

8How does KNUST address ethical and responsible AI use?▾
Ethical AI is a core principle of the initiative. Courses include guidance on:

All participants are expected to adhere to KNUST’s AI use guidelines.
9Will lecturers and staff receive training in AI?▾
Yes. Dedicated capacity-building programmes are available for staff, tailored to different disciplines and roles, to support effective AI integration in teaching, research, and administration.
10Does KNUST work with external partners on AI courses?▾
Yes. KNUST collaborates with carefully selected academic, industry, and development partners. All partnerships are guided by principles of local ownership, capacity building, and alignment with institutional priorities.

Step 2 — Creating an Account, Logging In and Opening the Course
Follow these screens to create your account (if you don’t already have one), sign in, and reach your course. The whole sequence takes just a few minutes.
Create Your Account
New to the platform? Open the course homepage and click the “Log in” button in the top-right green header. On the login screen, click “Register Now” under “Create your KNUST AI Course account.”
Fill in Your Details
Complete the New account form — choose a username and password, enter your email, name, and (if you’re a student) your KNUST Student ID. Then click “Create my new account.” Check your email to confirm, and you’re ready to log in.
Log In
Already have an account? Open the course homepage at the URL above. In the top-right corner of the green header bar, click the “Log in” button.
User ID & Password
On the login screen, type your User ID in the Username field and your password in the Password field, then click the green “Log in” button.
Your Home Screen
After logging in you arrive at the Dashboard, showing your Timeline (upcoming activities) and a monthly Calendar of course events.
My Courses
Click “My courses” in the top navigation bar. Your enrolled course “Applied Artificial Intelligence for Ghana’s Priority Sectors” appears as a card — click it to enter.
